Hello and welcome! I’m Dawn Viola, a functional nutrition expert and holistic chef with a focus on real food, from scratch, clean eating, food as medicine — I call it Honest Food.
Using food and lifestyle changes to heal my body and reverse the damage caused from years of misdiagnosed food allergies, I launched This Honest Food to help you focus on the areas that lead to better health when better balanced: movement, relationships, sleep, stress, and of course, food. It all begins with food, because food changes everything.
All of the wellness programs and downloads you’ll find on This Honest Food are available at no charge — I never collect your data or emails, but instead invite you to follow us on Instagram and Twitter to say hello and share your stories, with the hope that you, too, can help or inspire someone experiencing similar health challenges.
We believe that one small change, every day, is all it takes to make a big impact on your health and well being. Take the pledge and join the hundreds of other families and individuals who are choosing better food for better health.
I have a Master’s degree in Health and Nutrition Education, am a classically trained executive chef, a former Le Cordon Bleu culinary instructor, and a published author and recipe developer.
In addition to developing and testing recipes for my blog, I often partner with organizations and brands who share my same honest food philosophy. I also often compete in professional cooking competitions. The most fun I’ve ever had at a competition was when I appeared on Food Network. I spent two days filming Cooks vs. Cons, and won the grand prize. You can read more about my Food Network adventure here, and can catch reruns of the episode on Amazon.
